Hello, I’m Eric Balnar — the voice of baseball, softball, and ice hockey in Australia.
Originally from Guelph in Canada, I’m an award-winning broadcaster, writer, and media manager with over a decade of experience calling games and telling stories that bring Australian sport to life.
Play-by-Play Broadcaster for:
-
Australian Baseball League & Adelaide Giants
-
Adelaide Adrenaline (Australian Ice Hockey League)
-
Team Australia Baseball
-
South Australian Softball Premier League
-
National Baseball & Softball Tournaments
I’ve called games on major networks including Fox Sports, NBC Regional Sports, AT&T SportsNet, Kayo, Baseball+, AIHL.TV, SBS, LifeFM and NITV, engaging audiences worldwide with research-driven commentary and a passion for finding magnitude in moments.
Current Role:
Broadcast, Media & Content Manager at Baseball Australia — serving as the voice, beat reporter and lead storyteller for Team Australia Baseball, Baseball.com.au, and the ABL. From writing and social media to video content and traditional media, I give Australian baseball its narrative.
Born in Canada, I moved to Australia in 2014 and am now a proud citizen. I’ve also covered national ice hockey for the Adelaide Adrenaline, AIHL, and Adelaide Avalanche (PHL).
Outside the booth, you’ll find me surfing, hiking, camping, playing golf, and salsa dancing.
